HUNG CROSSROADS (top right)
Dachau was one of the worst places I have ever been to. Once you stepped onto the area of the camp, all was silent. no birds in sight, nor a chirp of singing could be heard for miles away. It was as if the pain and suffering still lingered as the earth and nature itself mourned for the thousands of lives lost in one location. Not only was it cold and grey in the air and sky, but every where else was still dreary, as if death swept by and never left any room for life and joy to come back. When I visited, I felt sick after being on the camp grounds for so long, knowing/learning what happened to so many innocent lives on the grounds, in the buildings, with the devices. You could smell the stench of death reeking in corners of the rooms.... you could imagine all the suffering, cries and pleas that were voiced in each room.
